Maria Kovacic

I seek leave to amend general business notice of motion No. 3 standing in the name of Senator Collins.

Leave granted.

I move the motion as amended:

That the following matter be referred to the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee for inquiry and report by 8 March 2027:

The use and impact of monetary, expenditure based and numerical restrictions on Department of Veterans' Affairs-funded health treatment, with particular reference to:

(b) the use of monetary limits, expenditure thresholds, numerical treatment limits, review points, additional approval requirements, co-contributions or other restrictions affecting access to treatment;

(c) the consequences of such restrictions for continuity of care, clinical outcomes and veterans with complex, chronic or multiple service-related conditions;

(d) the particular impact on veterans and health service providers in regional, rural and remote Australia;

(e) the adequacy of existing statutory protections and options for strengthening legislative protections against monetary and numerical restrictions on veterans' health treatment;

(f) the financial, clinical and administrative implications of restricting, removing or legislatively prohibiting monetary and numerical limits on veterans' health treatment;

(g) consultation undertaken with veterans, ex-service organisations, health practitioners and other affected stakeholders; and

(h) any related matters.

The question is that business of the Senate No. 3 standing in the name of Senator Collins as amended be agreed to.

This is the question as put in the chamber, with the name of the member who spoke before the vote. It isn't a summary of the bill or motion.
