Text recorded with this division

Sue Lines

I will first deal with the Committee of the Whole amendments and requests for amendment, starting with the requests circulated by the government. In accordance with the usual practices, the statements accompanying the requests will be incorporated in Hansard. I understand the Minister has a document to table.

Katy Gallagher

I table a supplementary explanatory memorandum relating to the government's request for amendments to be moved to this bill.

Sue Lines

The question is that the request for amendments on sheet AU137 be agreed to.

Government's circulated amendments—

(1) Clause 2, page 3 (table item 11, column 1), omit "Schedule 9", substitute "Schedules 8A and 9".

(2) Page 76 (after line 26), after Schedule 8, insert:

Schedule 8A — Stolen Generations redress and reparations payments

Social Security Act 1991

1 After paragraph 8(8)(jc)

Insert:

(jca) a payment under a scheme (however described) established by a State to provide redress or reparations in relation to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons from the Stolen Generations;

Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986

2 After paragraph 5H(8)(mb)

Insert:

(mba) a payment under a scheme (however described) established by a State to provide redress or reparations in relation to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons from the Stolen Generations;

3 Application of amendments

The amendments made by this Schedule apply in relation to a payment made on or after the commencement of this item.

Question agreed to.

I will now deal with the amendments and requests for amendments circulated by the Australian Greens. The question is that the amendments on sheets 3964 and 4034, and the requests for the amendments on sheet 3936 be agreed to.

This is the question as put in the chamber, with the name of the member who spoke before the vote. It isn't a summary of the bill or motion.
