Being a former employee and dedicated supporter of my local NRL team the mighty Newcastle Knights, the transformation from 2025 wooden spooners to 2026 grand finalists was electrifying for our passionate region, and while initial plans for the big day were to gather the 3 generations of Cadell men together to watch the spectacle on TV those plans changed thanks to the NRL’s Anthony Trimarchi and his team of dream facilitators who gifted me 4 general admission tickets in section 626 row 25 so my father, sons and I could join 80,000 other league fanatics experience the spectacle that was the 2026 NRL grand final live. While our Knights were unable to become the first team in the NRL era to win the premiership from outside the top four our big hearted team played strong and did us proud, forcing our opponents to have to come back from 12-0 down at half time to wrestle the trophy from us in what was an absolute thriller of a game – Cost unknown

I acknowledge my very kind hosts at Suncorp for a most bittersweet hospitality experience at the 2026 Melbourne Formula 1, where I was their guest for what was expected to be an exceptional performance by my beloved McLaren F1 team and Australia’s great hope, Oscar Piastri. The ecstasy of being at the track in person was shattered and a collective bawl flowed over Melbourne when on the formation lap my McLaren driver lost control of his MCL40 on the exit of Turn 4, striking the barrier and destroying the front-right corner of his car, and the hopes of all Australia at the same time, as part of the package and a small consolation for not seeing him race, i was also given a 1/5 scale Oscar Piastri 2025 Helmet. – Cost Unknown and Immeasurable

On Saturday the 7th of February I was schedule to meet with Mr. Clive Palmer to discuss some policy and electoral matters on the Gold Coast. As he was having his plane come via Newcastle to pick up someone, I was offered and accepted a ride in the private jet from Newcastle to Brisbane and return. I also received transfers to and from the airport and lunch with a delicious Japanese feast at Paradise Point Japanese Cuisine. It was a great meeting with many areas of agreement and a few where we had differences, but anytime people are talking about how to make the lives of Australians better, it is a good thing. All at no cost to the taxpayer.

As a guest of the Port of Newcastle I was fortunate to see in person the special effects and amazing high energy stunts performed last Saturday night by Nitro Circus at McDonald Jones Stadium. Apart from the always hot but delicious party pies in hospitality I particularly enjoyed seeing the local boys performing along side the worlds best, defying gravity and physics by jumping bikes, rollerblades, wheelchairs & lounges with unbelievable skill – Cost Unknown

After a meeting with representatives from Suncorp discussing disaster management, response scenarios and threat modelling I was their guest for an interesting meal at Callao Barangaroo, where we enjoyed reimagined traditional dishes with a Nikkei twist and Japanese precision met Peruvian vibrancy – Cost unknown

I was blessed be given 2 tickets to see the Wallabies claim victory in their first Test for 2025 after a Harry Wilson try in the 77th minute sealed a 21-18 win over Fiji at McDonald Jones Stadium in early July as a guest of my former employer, the Port of Newcastle in their hospitality suite. After an initial period of shock and dismay at the difference in play between my Lion's supporter wife's favourite football, Rugby Union and my beloved Rugby League. I was somewhat confused by the constant pile on's and having extra people in scrums but was able to adapt and enjoy the first victory out of 16 attempts of attending various football games with the Port – Cost unknown
